Is There A Doctor In The House?

Today has not been great. I have had a migraine all day for starters. THEN my husband is sick. That's right. The big baby is sick. With almost flu-like symptoms. So you know what that means. Shivering. Moaning. Groaning. Honestly I don't know which is worse sometimes. When the kids are sick or when your man gets sick. Okay. I take that back. I DO know which is worse.

I mean, I know I don't have many shortcomings, but I do struggle tremendously in this department. I do not play nursemaid very well. Well... anyway. I can't help it. I do try. And I start out okay. But somewhere around say hour 2... that's it. I'm done.

I guess I just get irritated that the world doesn't stop for me when I am sick and not feeling well. I remember on one of my visits to the dr. about my migraines they would ask me "when you get a migraine do you go lie down?" And my reply would always be (with a head nod, I might add) Riiiiigght!

See, moms still have to function when we are sick. We still have meals to cook, baths to give, hair to comb, diapers to change, dogs to feed, beds to make, toys to pick up, clothes to wash, dishes that need to be put away, and homework to help with. We do not often get to pull the covers over our head and wish the sickness away. And Lord help us if we ever do... we certainly don't moan every! other! breath!!!

Now, I know what my response to my husband should be when he doesn't feel well. I know that I should respond lovingly. That I should make the kids keep the noise to a minimum *snicker snicker* That I should wait on him hand and foot with a gen u wine smile on my face. I know all of this, I do.

But... If he doesn't stop the moaning and groaning soon, I may have to stick a sock in it! (Glory, praisetheLord)

OH MY GOODNESS Ash....I could have written the EXACT same words. I agree with you 110%. I am not much of a nurse/caregiver either but it seems even harder when it's my hubby that's sick. And like you, I know that's wrong...BUT!!!

OK, so I am praying that tomorrow is a better day for you. That the migraine is gone and that your hubby is better.

Love you! Ang

Oh Girl - You are cracking me up!! You are hilarious and I so needed that laugh. Here is to hoping you don't have to get too violent and stick a sock in it (lol). Hope you are able to get that migraine to disappear soon. I know how painful and miserable you can get with them (been there and done that). Take Care!!

I know about the hubby-whining thing. This is funny. Just be nice and make it a clean sock. :)

I totally agree with you on the comment about big male babies. I've got one at my house too. It's something I just can't deal with!

Can I get an AMEN? Holy Cry Babies Batman. They milk sickness for all it is worth. I also stink at being that loving/caring wife when he is sick, because when I feel crudy...I get zero/zilch sympathy. I do keep the kids far away and try to keep the noise to a mild roar though. It's the least I can do.
Hope tomorrow is better for you!

LOL.

In our house the roles are reversed. My husband barely says a thing when he is sick. I on the other hand milk it for all its worth, moan about it every single breath I take.I actually pitty my husband. haha.

I followed you from Amanda's blog and couldn't agree with your post more! :) I feel the exact same way. Any one else I don't mind taking care of but when it comes to my hubby - Lord do I struggle with being patient and sympathetic!

Hope he feels better and your migraine is gone - those are the worst!!!

That couldn't be more true. Last year my in laws came to town the week of Christmas. They brought with them the stomach flu. I am THE ONLY one who didn't get extremely sick (though I felt sick). I literally spent New Years Eve going from person to person, with buckets and helping them each throw up (and more) about fifty times each, all through the night and next day. The house stunk and I felt like it needed to be burned afterward. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only wife/mom who doesn't get the 'special treatment' when I'm sick...maybe I won't consider divorce so quickly next time. :) Merry Christmas

BTW - I hope you feel better soon, and that your BABY *wink *wink does too.

I've said these words many times on my blog "I am not a nurse". I'm a horrible caregiver, it's just not in my genes at all! I hope you ALL are feeling better!!! xo Keli
