Christmas Is Just Around The Corner

Everyday, I have that Christmas countdown staring at me.  It makes me think of all the things I have to do and what little time I have to do it in.  A lot of my gifts are monogrammed.  And seeing as how I am the monogrammer... Lots to do!!!  Why I do this to myself every year, I don't know.  And every year I tell myself that I am going to start earlier.  Yeah... whatever!!!

Another big "to-do" is the Christmas cards.  For some reason they are very important to me to do.  I don't know why.  I guess I just need to add one more big thing on my list.  Big thing?  you shyly ask...  Yes, because first you have to take the pictures.  You ever try to get ONE good shot with 3 kids, 2 adults and 2 dogs??  And this year we are gonna try to get the horses in the background/foreground somehow!  Good luck, Kim!!!  And then there is the list itself!!!  Good Grief!!!  There are friends, family, business associates and contacts, people that send you a card and now you have to send them one...  Every year the list grows.  And every year Frank and I argue about who stays on the list and who goes.

And the gift list...  trying to think of something for everyone on there.  Sometimes I think I would just like to skip it!!  Alas, I can not.  Because it is my favorite time of year.  Seeing family and friends, having a chance to spend some time together and be mindful of what the season is really about!

So this week, I am getting our picture clothes all put together (nothing fancy, don't get too excited) and working on the card list!  What are you doing to get ready for the holidays??

I am teaching my piano students some Christmas songs to share with their families, but mostly I am in rehearsals for "A Taffeta Christmas" at Theatre Albany! We will probably forgo a picture this year (we had one last year... there's only 2 of us in the pic anyway...), and I will just be glad if I can get all my cards out before the play closes on 12/21.

Holidays include Thanksgiving too, I guess, so I am hoping to start planning a menu with the hubby soon, as we have decided to stay home this year and NOT travel on T-giving weekend. I think this is a first in our 9 years of marriage! OK, enough about me. :-)

Not much yet. I will shop the day after Thanksgiving and get all the gifts then and put the tree up Thanksgiving night and then begin to wrap presents to put under the tree. Then I will be done:) If it were only that simple.

I need to do the Christmas card thing too. I do it every year, along with a letter about our "happenings". I was thinking of using the pic of the kids in the hayloft though....not sure I could capture one better between now and then. I family pic would be nice but that would require planning, and a photographer. I barely know my neighbors here, let alone a good photographer. But, I LOVE Christmas and what it stands for. It's all about Jesus. I try so hard to not get wrapped up in the other "stuff" and just focus on Jesus. The Things and I bake Jesus a birthday cake every year, nothing fancy, but fun, yummy and meaningful. OK, I've rambled on to where this now looks like a post all in itself. Sorry. :/ Love ya...Ang

Whew...it wears me out just thinking about it! I still haven't had our picture taken for cards and I'm not to sure it's going to happen this year. I may just take one of the kids and use that. Which is what I have done for the last couple of years. I do LOVE sending out cards! But time is getting away from me! I am getting excited about Friday after Thanksgiving shopping SPREE! : ) Thanks Ash for the sweet comment on my blog about Mom! xo Kel

I usually hand make about 150 Christmas cards and write the card and do a photo page and get them sent out by early December. This year, being about 9 months pregnant, I bought pretty paper and will write something and get them out ASAP. Im tired just thinking about it.

Good luck with all yours!

God bless-
